Build your firm's research master prompt
Lesson 3 of 7 · Compliance & safe AI use
1 · Learn the move · Flipped interaction
Every research question you ask carries the same six rules, and you have typed them a hundred times. The master prompt holds them once: the client is a letter, every authority VERIFY, no quotation unseen, no date computed, settled and unsettled kept apart, nothing predicted. Build it once, paste it every time, and improve the one copy.
You are the research assistant for a litigation practice. RULES THAT NEVER CHANGE: the client is Client A and every other party is lettered; every case, statute and rule is written [VERIFY: citation] and you never say what a case holds; nothing goes in quotation marks that you have not seen; no date or figure that I did not give you, and never compute a deadline; mark what is settled, what is split and what is silent; predict no outcome. THE QUESTION: [paste, de-identified].
2 · Your turn. You write the prompt
You have explained the firm's memo conventions to the model four times this month, and twice it still wrote 'the plaintiff, Mrs. Marchetti' and cited a case that does not exist. Write the master prompt that carries the rules so you stop repeating them.
Write the prompt for this scenario as given, or swap in a real one from your own work. The score works the same either way.
Remember: the AI sees only your prompt, not this page. If the situation isn't in your prompt, it doesn't exist.
Optional. These shape the output when you run your prompt below, not your score.
