Turn your best prompt into a skill
Lesson 2 of 3 · Claude & Cowork mastery
1 · Learn the move · Tool choice + routing
A prompt you paste is a habit; a skill is a procedure. The difference is the guardrails: the redaction gate, the no-quotation rule and the VERIFY marking stop being things you remember to type and become steps that run whether you remember or not. Your best prompt is the one to convert first, and its rules are the first thing you write into the skill.
Convert the prompt below into a SKILL.md with: a one-line trigger (when to fire); the steps in order with the redaction gate as step 1; the rules that travel with every output (parties lettered, every authority VERIFY, no quotation unseen, no date computed); and what the skill refuses to do. PROMPT: [paste].
2 · Your turn. You write the prompt
Your status-letter prompt is the best thing you have built. It lives in a text file you paste from. Make it a skill, with the redaction gate and the no-prediction rule as guardrails, not hopes.
Write the prompt for this scenario as given, or swap in a real one from your own work. The score works the same either way.
Remember: the AI sees only your prompt, not this page. If the situation isn't in your prompt, it doesn't exist.
Optional. These shape the output when you run your prompt below, not your score.
